I just downloaded NWN2, it works but just at resolution 1024x768 that makes all women formy and all men very wide shouldered on a 16*9 monitor

If i try changing res in the options it seems to work but all i get is the resized option panel where i'm unable to click confirm and after some attempts usually the game crashes, if it doesnt i need to alt-F4 to close it.

I tried changing graphic options in nwn2.ini but it doesnt work; even if i write 1920x1080 the game remains at 1024x720

I have Win 10 running on a core i5 and an AMD R9390

Run the game as administrator and try to see if the changes remain without any problems.

If issues still remain, check to see if the .ini file is not read-only.

Set to run as admin both nmw2.exe and nwn2main.exe nothing changed

nwn.ini is not read only but the folder NWN2 Complete is read only and if i uncheck the tab for all subfolders and files a window opens, there is some work and in the preferences it looks like no more read only BUT if i close the preferences and i reopen it again the folder is still read only as if nothing happened
Windows Scaling causes all kind of odd issues. Try disabling it:

Tried it already, and retried it now to be sure; no changes

If i try running NWN2main.exe with the compatibility settings shown in that post scaling changes nothing

The only difference is that if i run it using non downgraded compatibility instead of having an option window that i cannot close i get a black screen with just a flickering mouse pointer; i played some with the different options but none of yhem had any pratical effect

It's weird that even if the folder is read only i can edit the nwn2.ini file but the ini is not used by the program
I'm having the same exact problems. Tried a bunch of different things in a number of posts, even installed dell's latest graphic driver rather than intel's latest which works for everything and both drivers exhibit the same behavior. Hoping someone else has some suggestions or can point us to the fix. 1024 isnt very fun.

Trying to run it in 1366x768, my recommended resolution.

Thank you.

Win10 (latest updates)/Latitude E6520

got it after some more random tinkering. Disabling fullscreen actually allowed it to load without crashing in 1366x768 windowed mode (swear i tried this a number of times before but whatever), the window draws off the screen to the right and down, and maximizing does work but stretches the window oddly. May be ok. I'll play some and see. Prob look alot better in 1920x1080.

Is that your actual resolution?

What do you see here:
http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com

That is a supported resolution in NWN, I tried it fullscreen on my copy and it works fine (1920x1200 monitor and NVidia 8800GT).

It seems like there is no end to problems trying to play a lot of different old games on Intel integrated graphics.

It worked fo me too and i'm almost sure i tried it before without success.

It works in 1920x1080 the native resolution of my monitor; just need to click to fit the window to the monitor to be able to see the bar on the bottom, thet is causing a slight distortion, because i found no way to set it to borderless window, the mode i use in most other games i play to be able to have a smoother transaction when i alt-tab out of the game.

The only problem is that it doesnt rotate the view when mouse cursor hits the side of the screen and i need to use central mouse button to do that, a bit annoying but i will survive; before you ask: yes i checked the tab in the exploration option screen but i know that windowed mode has this problem even in other games

UPDATE

Just discovered there is another nwn2.in in documents folder and it's the one that is used by the game

Editing it and setting

FullScreen=1
Width=1920
Height=1080

set the game at my favourite resolution and fullscreen without the annoyance of the mouse not rotating the view

Problem solved for me, hope it works also for others :)

Yep- thats my resolution. Hear you on the problems with Intel integrated graphics. It's a chore to get many older games to play nice.

***UPDATE***

@Beppe - that worked! Thank you very much! Works and looks much better now even though I still have to dial the graphics way down to make it playable.
