I run Windows 10 (64-bit) with Nvidia Geforce GTX 860M (so there shouldn't be any graphics problem). Every time I try to launch the game (doesn't matter if I do it from the original game EXE in its folder under administrator or compatibility mod) the game screen freezes on black and will not proceed to the intro video sequence. I tried to look up every fix on google, turning off antivirus, reinstalling, checking my Nvidia card is selected and turning off the intro sequence with no success.
as of now im completely stuck and frustrated.
I would appreciate any help at all

Perhaps adjust the cpu affinity?

Just tried, unfortunately won't work :\
In your Nvidia control panel, check to make sure Threaded Optimization is AUTO. If it is, try OFF. AUTO should work with NWN2 but some have needed to turn it off. Your guess is as good as mine as to why.
Try disabling the intro movies. Open the nwn2.ini file found in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\, and insert the following line under the [Display Options] section:

Disable Intro Movies=1

tried that & changing nvidia control panel options from auto. Still nothing. The game becomes unresponsive the second I launch it. there is no sound or nothing just a frozen black window. I also tried updating graphic card drivers, reinstalling directX and microsoft visual C++ 2005 & 2008 and afterwards reboot, but still no success.

Since you mentioned DirectX, NWN1 runs poorly with any version beyond 9.x (can't recall the exact version, maybe 9.3??). I realize your problem is with NWN2 but perhap an older version of DirectX would help with that game. NWN2 vets would know better if the game is touchy about the APIs furnished with the newer versions. Just clutching at straws. You really shouldn't be having this problem.

Just out of curiosity... is your copy a digital version or from disc?

I got the GOG digital version, not the disc. I guess that i'll look for an ISO and give it a shot with it
In your NWN2.ini
Try under [Sound Options]
DisableSound=1

If the game then starts, you will know where to look.

Hey bro.. It seems I found a potential solution to your problem.. First of all the nvn series are ran by direct x 9.0 version... try downloading the direct x 9.0 versipn on this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/download/details.aspx?id=34429.. and install it..
After that set the game's compatibility mode to Windows vista service-pack 2(it's only optional you can also run the game without compatibility as long as direct x 9.0 is installed).

Since the nvn series are a bit outdated it is normal for the game to freeze since it doesn't recognize later versions of direct x such as DX 11 or 12 which are common in windows 10..BTW I also use windows 10 and I have encountered a lot problems like these before..works for both neverwinter nights 1 and 2 please feel free to pm me if it still doesn't work okay ;-)
