I just downbloaded and installed NWN2 and it runs very slow even with all graphics low. Not sure why this is happening. I am running windows 8. Have tried windows xp service pack 2 comparability but nothing changed. Please help!
Some graphics cards just don't get along with NWN2. This can often be solved by just experimenting with turning down the different graphics settings until you find the one that's causing the problem. Water effects are probably a good place to start; a lot of people report the game runs smooth as a charm if they turn those down.

I tried that as i stated. All the graphics are turned down as low as possible
I had a problem with nwn when I got a new graphics card, it ran horrendously (10 fps max kind of bad). Turned out to be newer versions of the open gl driver were bad with older games. Easy way to fix it is find an old version of the opengl.dll for your card on the web somewhere and then put it in your nwn directory. I went from ~10 fps to 100+ after I did.

If you have an ati card the file you need will likely be called atioglxx.dll, nvidia not so sure google probably knows.

NWN1 uses OpenGL but NWN2 uses DirectX9.

Mitchnicol, could you please post details of your hardware? (in particular, CPU and graphics card). NWN2 was pretty demanding for its time (and still can be with maximum graphics goodness, transparency AA and improved texture mods). In particular, most laptops (with their limited graphics cards) are likely to struggle, but recent desktop graphics cards should be OK.

I don't remember if it was in NWN 1 or 2, but one of the games had issues with some sound cards that would drastically impact performance. Switching to 'Miles Positional Audio' (or something like that... it starts with Miles :)) in the game's audio options menu did wonders for performance if the game didn't like your sound system. Might be worth trying.
