Yesterday I was playing the game, when all of a sudden the game just locked up.
Actually it cause my entire computer to lock up, I had to do a hard reboot to get it running again, I could not even open the task manager.

Today when I tried launching the game I again I get the standard windows error NWN2 stopped working with the standard options to look for solutions on the Internet and close the program or just close the program.

I figured that uninstalling and reinstalling the game would solve it, but it did not.
I even ran a file integrity check during installation, it made no difference
I simply cannot launch the game, every time I try to start the game I instantly get the error.

I'm running Win 7 with the latest updates/drivers installed, played the game on Win 7 before and never had this problem.

That's a rather generic error and could be caused by almost everything. Have you tried starting the game as Administrator (right-click => Run as ..) yet, or in Compatibility Mode for Win XP (right-click => Properties => Compatibility tab)?

Further, don't install the game into "Program Files" folder but into a custom location like C:\GOG Games\

There's also the NWN2 Client Extension a kind of community patch to fix and improve mainly multiplayer features, but it comes with its own launcher and fixes some crash bugs as well. Maybe worth a try here.

In the properties box for the shortcut, the box that says "run as admin" was marked so it should have run as admin automatically.
I tried to right click and the selected run as admin and that worked, but left clicking still didnt work.
Then I set it to run in compatibility mode for XP SP3, that seems to have solved the problem.

I should have thought of this myself.
Thanks for the help.

You're welcome! I'm glad it works. After a crash, you never know, a solution could have become complicated.
