People complain all the time about how buggy NWN2 is, but I can't seem to find any mention of the particular problems *I'm* having with the game. So maybe it's just that I'm overlooking a command or something? Does anyone know any way to fix the following problems?

1) Most of the time, if I want to heal someone, I click on the spell I want to cast on the hotbar, and then it gives me the little spell-casting tooltip, and I use that to click on the person I want to heal. Yay! But sometimes, when I click on the spell I want to cast on the hotbar, it just automatically casts it on some random member of the party. And I can't figure out how to get it not to do that. Quitting and rebooting the game resolves the problem, but that gets annoying.

2) Sometimes, I can't transfer items to a particular person in my party. Getting closer doesn't help. The problem comes and goes with no apparent rhyme or reason. I have ended up dealing with it by just dropping the stuff near the person, but because I have all my characters set to auto-pickup items, that usually takes several tries before it gets into the right person's inventory.

3) I got the leadership feat, but it will still only let me have 4 people in my party. I did figure out how to get around this problem using the console, so it basically doesn't matter...but this is a bug, right? Is there anything I'm missing that I'd need to do to make the feat actually work?

4) Is there any way to control which direction you're facing in strategy mode? At first I thought they had a specific orientation assigned for each area for strategy mode. But then, when I was halfway through the warehouse, the direction I was facing *changed* by like 110 degrees, after a cutscene or something like that. I couldn't figure out any way to change it back. This was incredibly confusing; it made it almost impossible to recognize which parts of the warehouse I'd been to before and which parts I hadn't. The list of commands for strategy mode says you can rotate the camera using the arrow keys, but that's not true--the arrow keys pan the camera, they don't rotate it.

This game is driving me crazy!

For the random casting, you need to make sure you don't have a certain person selected. If you right click on an item or person, it shows a small picture of them in the upper center of the screen. Sometimes you have someone selected by accident, and when you go to cast the spell, that is considered the target. So just right-click on who you want the spell to affect first. That used to happen to me all the time.

Not sure about the item transferring or the Leadership feat. I think the Leadership feat is only used in certain campaigns. For facing, I don't think they have a fix for that (at least one I haven't found).
1. As posted above, you probably have someone selected already. Pre-selecting can speed things up, but also result in this specific frustration. So just always check upper left for target confirmation.

2. If it is not a problem of being paused, I can't help with this one.

3. This feat was made for Storm of Zehir campaign. It doesn't work in base or MoTB.

4. Mouse to the edge of screen as well as arrows should work to change facing while in the mode on left-most side (three icons at the bottom of the screen). Upon reloading, the game likes to reset to the middle option, though. The best I could manage was the left-most mode while zoomed out in a "Baldur's Gate" perspective. Even then, the camera is just very finicky in this game.
1. If you don't want spells to be cast on the currrent target you can change that in the behaviour options.
Open the caracter sheet, go to the rightmost index, I think it's called behaviour or something, and disable anything that makes the character use skills, spells or other things on the current target.
Sorry I can't be more precisive, but I haven't played in quite some time.

For the camera, it really is terrible.

Ahhh. So...I think the picture of my target is covered up by the pictures of my party members, but once you mentioned this I discovered that I *can* sometimes see the name of one of my party members randomly showing up in between (and partially covered up by) the little icons of my party members on the right-hand side of the screen. What an...interesting UI choice. But, mystery solved, thank you!!

Alas, I tried the "exploration mode" (that's the left-most mode on the bottom of the screen), but it doesn't seem to let me change the direction I'm facing. Mousing to the edge of the screen, and the arrow buttons, do *move* the camera side to side, but they don't *rotate* it to face a different direction--if I was facing north before, I'm still facing north, just like in strategy mode.

Still, thanks for the suggestion!

I haven't actually played NWN2, so I have no idea if this will work, but maybe try holding some combination of control, alt, and shift while pressing the arrow keys?

For example Ctrl+L Arrow, or Ctrl+Shift+R Arrow?

Know what you mean with the camera panning. If the turning isn't working by default, then there are a few settings:

In Game Options, under Exploration/Strategy, there is an option for "Turn Camera on Mouse Hitting Edge of Screen". Under Keymapping, there's a section for the camera. Screenshots below of where all this is located. I hope you can get it working. I remember the panning of the other mode and can't imagine playing the whole game that way.

Ahh, that makes sense. I looked at all the options trying to fix this but I guess I didn't process what "Turn Camera on Mouse Hitting Edge of Screen" meant properly. Thank you!

And yeah, playing the game without being able to rotate the camera does *not* work! Half the doors and other wall-located things would be invisible in whatever perspective I was stuck in. I would just have to sweep my mouse vaguely around the bottom of the screen to try to see if there was anything important there I couldn't see!

Also, just in case someone else has this problem in the future: I figured out what was behind my trouble giving items to companions. The real problem is that the place where the target is specified, on the upper right-hand corner of the screen, is covered up for me by the icons of my companions. And for that reason I never even *noticed* that it was specifying a target there. If I have a target selected, and I try to give items to the companion whose icon is listed right over the target, it doesn't work, presumably because the game thinks I'm clicking on the target instead. So now that I know that, I can just clear the target and everything works fine.

It isn't normally. But many of the UI elements are draggable, and the selected target indicator probably got dragged over where you're seeing it now. You should be able to drag it back to its usual place.
