Hi

On the menus, there is no visible mouse. Moving the mouse around suggests there is one there, as the menus on the character creation screens highlight. But, one cannot navigate with an invisible mouse unless you are a true master of gaming, which I am not.

Does anyone have a fix?

Thanks

The very first thing to do is to reboot your computer, to rule out driver issues.

Thanks... I have rebooted lots. This problem has been there for months, so have not played. Err-only just thought of asking for help.

I have tried updating drivers for mouse and graphics card. I am on windows 7, which may have issues?

The game worked originally, but then stopped. I cannot ascertain what changed.

It's not a Windows 7 issue: I run NWN1 & 2 on Win 7 64bit without issues. It's patently something on your system if it worked originally and then stopped. The thing I would do now is to create a new NWN2 folder in My Documents. Rename the old 'Neverwinter Nights 2' folder and create another one of the same name, then run the game and re-set your options. That will rule out anything funky going on there. Do not install mods or haks while you are troubleshooting.

Thanks. Created a new Neverwinter Nights folder in my documents, after renaming the old one. Still no luck.

I've searched the net and found others with a similar issue. What they suggest didn't work either.

However, the game runs in full screen. Is there a keyboard short-cut to toggle to make it run into a window? I could try that.

Other than that, perhaps a lengthy re-install?

Thanks

Any Windows application that behaves properly can be switched from full screen to windowed by using ALT+ENTER, and NWN 2 behaves as expected.

Thank you Hickory.

I re-installed - nothing.

Then minimized window... and there is the cursor. I suspect I can full screen it again after generating a character.

Problem solved

If you can recommend any mods/patches that fixes bugs the official patch doesn't, please let me know. Had trouble finding a big patch like one had for Never Winter Nights.

Thanks again.

I don't use community patches because they invariably add content not intended by the developers. The GOG version is patched fully.

I tried alt-enter on a win10 machine, no joy, it just does not show the cursor even in compatibility mode for Win XP SP2. Any hints?

his issue might occur if the pointer trails for the cursor is enabled under Mouse pointer options.

Follow the methods listed below to troubleshoot the issue:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to disable it and check for the results. Follow the steps to do so:

Press Windows and X keys together and select Control Panel.
Click on Mouse.
Navigate to pointer options tab.
Under Visibility, uncheck the box which says “display pointer trails”.
Click on OK to close the window.
Check if you find the same issue. If yes, move to the next method.

Method 2:

Follow the steps below to change the display text size to 100 % and check if it resolves the issue:

Right Click on the desktop screen and select Personalize.
Click on Display.
Check the box that says “let me choose one scaling level for all my display”. Choose Smaller (100%)-default.
Click on Apply. Restart the game and check if the point becomes invisible again.
Please let us know the status of this issue.
