It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

So my computer has the following:

CPU: Dual Core 2.0Ghz
4 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics
Windows 10 32-bit

Steps I have tried

Running only one core (did absolutely nothing)
Turn graphics all the way down (absolutely nothing)
Turn off shiny water and pretty much set everything to lowest they would go (nothing)
Modified nwn.ini (safemovie =1)

The game is literally moving like a snail. I click on a spot on the ground and 10 seconds later he might show up. Even if that spot is only 2 feet away.

Game runs at decent speed on the main menu up until you load a module at which point during character selection/creation the game runs like a snail I've done everything I can think about, but unless someone can give me some suggestions to make this game even playable at all, I will probably be deleting the game and requesting a refund. And yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice to no avail.

Acanex88: Intel HD Graphics
Meaning not a dedicated graphics card?

Try running the critical rebuild. 99.9% chance of doing nothing but hey, we're grasping at straws here.

Tried running it in compatibility for an older operating system? I use Windows XP Service Pack 2 (but I'm using Windows 7).
Hey, I've got the same problem, with basically the same spec PC.

So I've tried basically every fix I can find, having started again from scratch with everything. It looks like it may be the Intel HD graphics card that is causing the issue. When it is disabled, there is a constant regular skip when loading the modules, but when it is enabled there is a long delay, around 10 seconds per skip. Updating and rolling back the drivers for this doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've hunted out my old CD copy of NWN to attempt to reinstall from scratch. NWN and SoU both run fine. It is HotU where the issue starts to occur, from v1.64 upwards. None of the intervening updates seem to fix this.

The critical rebuild doesn't make a difference to the running either. I have made changes to all of the configuration files to try and fix this too, including changing how the CPU is used, faking certain drivers not being installed etc., but none of this has made a difference. I have also tried to use the Community Updates, which again doesn't fix this.

Strangely, this hasn't been an issue for a long time, only in the past few months has this issue started. Any thoughts?

I've done pretty much all these, but I cant even play NWN's Main Campaign as it's like watching a snail race. Its jerky and sporadic at best. I've run in compatibility mode with 98/ME/XP/Vista/Win 7 everything prior to Win 10 and it has done jack with a side of squat.

And off the subject, I've used this same computer though to run a disc copy of NWN 2 (came out a few years later but fundamentally had the same layout with better graphics and storyline) with absolutely no issue and didnt even need to run in compatibility. But with NWN I know it's a 15 year old game, but I mean we are talking about a 6 year old laptop versus a 15 year old game. The laptop should by all accounts play the blasted thing. I can play Morrowind which came out in the same year and literally has more intensive graphics demands with no issues whatsoever and with mods running to boot. So I literally fail to understand how a game from the same year wont work at all. (My definition of working is doing what it is supposed to do. And last I checked jerky movements and constant freezes with 5-30 second lags just trying to move is most definitely NOT working.)

Heck I can play any game from that time including Baldur's Gate from 1998 and Icewind Dale but for some reason NWN wants to be a cantankerous POS. So I am at wits end.

PS I've reinstalled the game three times since i got off work and the game still wont work properly. I've set the game at the highest setting in the Priority List I can, tinkered with the affinity for 1 core, both etc and absolutely nothing has worked.

Also running critical rebuild despite multiple reinstalls results in the following: [Extract: error writing to xp3.bif]

Could try asking here and seeing if anyone has some ideas:

https://neverwintervault.org/forums/neverwinter-nights-1/nwn1-tech-qs

Best guess is it's a graphics card issue (or lack thereof) but not sure how to fix it. And could be entirely wrong! Never had this problem, even with my nine year old laptop.
Well now I got a whole new problem...tried to reinstall one last time since I've gotten several people on other forums telling me to "reinstall it" "reinstall it" sounded almost like a canned reply.

Now I have a Installation error code -11 and says the files downloaded from GoG.com are corrupted or some such nonsense

And yes I deleted the old files I downloaded and tried to redownload them from gog to no avail

Ah, thanks for the advice. I'll have a word there and see if anyone knows whats going on!
Same issue here,

The way I see it we both have Windows 10 and Both have Intel HD graphics.

Thing is it was working about 6 months ago, so some update is the culprit.
Try uninstalling some updates, and take note. Once you find the culprit send GOG the information on it.
Hey Acanex,

Which processor do you have exactly? And which HD Graphics you have? 2000 or 3000?
It looks like Anniversary update broke something and you can't uninstall it. Only solution is roll back if it's still available.
Ok I uninstalled this update KB4019472 and NWN is working now
