Okay, I have a solid Fighter companion helping me out... but he will NOT stop using Improved Power Attack on EVERY ENEMY! This is dragging out fights way more than they need to be.

Is there any way to make him stop using it?

You can try Henchman Inventory & Battle AI Mod . It has been a while since last time I played NWN1 but this mod was amazing, making everything much easier.

The comments section is worrying. It seems to break stuff it shouldn't.

This is why I don't give NPC companions (Improved) Power Attack!

But unless the TonyK override helps, would need to either recode the AI or remove the feat from the henchmen (which is harder if the henchman naturally levels up, you'd probably have to change their level up package).

If you mean Aribeth's dialogue, I never had such problem and haven't read anyone having it either. Can't be sure but maybe that person did not follow the quest properly.

Familiar feeling is by design. You can easily give any command to them, fight to the death or flee if badly hurt.
