Hey all.

Coming back to this game long after playiing it at release. Damn but the gear and armour is ugly!

I downloaded some mod packs for better armours, I have no idea if they replace other armour (doesn't seem to) or are entirely new armour sets.

I placed the mods in the override folder (extracted the files there and left them all in the folders they came in)

But in game I have no idea where to find the armour sets??? I thought I would get around the issue by using the console to spawn them in, but for the life of me, can't figure out the item codes.

Any idea where the armours might appear, how I get them to spawn in or check atleast the mod has loaded in correctly.

I'm not using a hak pack as the mod I wanted came loose, so to speak.
I use the Customize Character Override HAK (CCOH) for that. It will replace the in-game crafting menu, which means if you use this you can no longer craft your own stuff with skills like Craft Armor etc. But personally I always thought crafting in NWN wasn't worth it anyway, while this mod totally is. To me it's a must have, because I fully agrre, the default armours are hideous.

If you have it installed, you can cycle through all available armor parts via the crafting menu on the radial and also colour them any way you like. If your armour mod pack works, you should get access to the new content this way as well. I can't say whether different armour packs would be compatible with each other though. I've experimented with that a bit in the past and it seems to be hit or miss. If it doesn't work, you'll probably have to make do with just one select armour pack in the override folder.

Do you play Diamond or the EE, btw? The EE offers a neat way of dealing with different override packages via a patch hak file (not sure if that was possible in Diamond already, but the EE should be more advanced in this regard). There's also NIT to manage installed modules, hakpaks, override folders etc., supposedly very helpful and compatible with both editions, but I haven't worked with it yet, because I prefer to do everything myself, manually.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't expect to get one so soon.

So, I should have mentioned, I'm talking about NWN2 complete edition. Only just realised this forum is for the entire series, which makes sense. Which also means that my next questions might not be relevant and you might not be able to answer them.

Is there a mod manager for NWN2?

If not, I don't know if I'm doing things properly (all the modding guides online for this game, seem to assume you know the basics. Which I don't.) I've tried using both Override and HAK varients for a mod. Put the required files in the required folder.... but nothing changes in game. Does that suggest the mods aren't compatible, or that they don't work? I'm betting it's mod dependant and would be difficult for you or anyone else to say for sure.

I remember now why I avoided modding back in the day! It certainly has become alot simpler (most of the time)
It would help if you named a specific mod you are trying to use.
But for override armor mods, they just go in ...\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\override\
The pic shows Aleanne's Grey Archer chainmail mod.
The UTI file shows ale_archergreychainmail.UTI
Select your character.
Press the tilde key to open the console.
type " DebugMode 1 " (without the " ")
giveitem ale_archergreychainmail
Then DebugMode 0
And press the tilde key again. (See 2nd pic)
The second pic shows I got the armor, but my Monk Jessie couldn't equip it

NWN2 has Charlie's Appearance Changer which allows you to swap the model or colour of the armor.

Oops, sorry. I also keep forgetting this forum is for both games ...

The default armour is ugly in both of them, too. XD

It's okay, I've figured out what the problem was, I was trying to use: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn2/model/new-beautifull-armors-weapons-and-weapons-big-pack-nwn2 aswell as an unpacked override edition of the same files.

Turns out, none of these files are the relevant blueprints for actual ingame items and are infact, just the resources for reskinning already present ingame assets or creating ones own.

I'm not down with that level of aggravation for what is, in effect, a nostalgia trip and while I took a look over on The Neverwinter Vault, for ACTUAL mod content, finding anything relevant to NWN2 is tiresome. Awful search functionality over there!

I've given up for now, but thank you both for taking the time to respond. It's very much appreciated.
