I bought this game recently and am having an impossible time getting it running.
i've got an Intel HD 3000 graphics card, or something to that effect, I'm running it in windows XP vrs 2 compatibility mode, and I have played with just about every setting that i can possibly play with but the game does not run any smoother under any circumstances. The game will run perfectly in the main menu, but as soon as I get into any character creation or actual gameplay, it is completely unplayeble. Literally one frame every five second. I'm getting very frustrated, I just want to play this game. can I please get some help?

Try disabling your HD graphics (if you haven't tried already).

Is your sound integrated or a discrete card?
i believe it's fully integrated. i'll try your suggestion. thank you
For integrated sound, under [Sound Options] in the nwn.ini, change to DisableSound=1 and test play in silence. If the FPS improves noticeably, at least one cause of the performance issue has been revealed. If gameplay is still unmanageable, reset back to DisableSound=0. The cause lies elsewhere.

disabling the graphics helped a lot. there's still a lot of stuttering in the frame rate, but the frames are now at least consistent. disabling the sound made no difference. i'm reinstalling the game now, and i'll be doing more experimenting, but did you have any other suggestions?
thank you very, very much for your help
Make sure the Intel driver version and date listed for the system's display adapter matches the most current version listed at the Intel site. If not, DL and install manually. The system update feature will not always find the most current driver depending on how new the vcard is.

Disable all security and AV software while disconnected from the Web and retest SP performance. This isn't feasible for on-line play, but for SP, it should not compromise system integrity for a game session.

Is your sound integrated or a discrete card?
dumb question. how do i do that, i have the same Graphics card (intel hd Grapics) as this person but i cant find that option anywhere. When i Run the game the menu is perfect but after i start it goes just like his. i did find out that if i hit the console button (~) it drops all graphics and the game runs smooth. but then you escape and it goes back to the way it was . please help

I use the Nvidia Control Panel. I can select whatever format I prefer according to the screen's capabilities. For Intel HD, perhaps this page will help you.

I'm having the same issue, have you solved it?
