For those of you who had NWN2 working just fine before, but are having issues now:
GOG ninja-updated the game 2 months ago and it completely bricked the game's functionality. It crashes on launch, crashes in menus, permanently freezes the screen, and more. To fix this, you need to go into GOG Galaxy, right click NWN2 in your game library, click manage installation, configure, and then towards the bottom there should be a section for Auto updates. Untick 'Automatically update to newest version' and click the bubble for 'Version 1.23' that was created 8+ years ago, and this will fix the game. Then it should perform fine with the client extender installed, which is extremely necessary for this buggy title that is held together with spit and popsicle sticks.
Another person helped me with this and noted that there were no topics on the matter, so I made one. It drove me mad trying to figure out what was wrong. Hopefully this helps.
