Alright, so I'm playing through the SoU expansion, and had a hard time beating the elf lady (you know who I'm talkin' about) and died quite a few times. That's not the problem. The problem is, Dora died a few times too, and now when I click on her to put her back in my party she won't join me. No dialogue options, nuthin'. When we first reappeared in the school she was still lying face down, too, though at least now she's standing.

SO. What do I do? I saved (like an idiot, over my old file) and I can use orc-mage-guy, but he's a prick so I don't want to. Any help?

Hmm, I have not played SoU, So I am not sure how the henchmen are handled that well. The First wuestion I would have to ask Is do you still have here contract Item? The Contract item is the item that was given to the PC when the henchman was hired.

If you can tell me what her opening line, is when you talk to her, I will take a look at the scripts and see if I can find a solution for you.

SoU doesn't have contract items like the core game did, you're all friends who went to the same school together. And there's no dialogue option at all anymore -- I can click and click and she won't say anything :(
Just tried again from the pre-fight autosave, and while Dora will join me if she dies before I kill the elf-lady, she won't after, even on a new save.

Don't know why I will ask this, I'm sure you did. Have you updated never winter nights to 1.69?..... I know when you download nwn de from gog it will say 1.69 is installed, but I always install 1.69 from the biowear exe file.

I attached two pics on what to click on to download load 1.69

So let me get this right... you download the update from the biowear website, not the in game updater right?..... the only reason I ask is because, all thou my gog copy said I had the 1.69 update, I was still able to install the 1.69 update from the biowear website. I never got a message saying I already had it installed.

yeah hope you don't have to re start... have you tried an earlier game save? (I know you tried an older auto save)

Well, I like to play games semi-hardcore in that I only use one save file, even if I KNOW a game is glitchy. It's kinda stupid-cocky, I know, but it's my thang, and so long as I know what glitches to watch out for, I can only blame myself. It's when I encounter a glitch that I don't expect that it gets... irksome.

I'm only a few hours in, and this is the second time I've started anyhow, quitting the first time just out of general issues with my character build. If I have to start again, I can handle it... I just really don't want to :P

LOL..... I understand...... Maybe you wont have to... Some game moments and dialog have triggers to them... maybe she isn't talking because you've not found the trigger yet. Could be anything from walking through a door or something. I should be playing that soon.. If I come upon the same thing I will let you know.
Have you tried getting her to join before the fight, then asking her to wait there, then doing the fight? I know it'll make it harder without her, but at least she won't die. I'd actually say that cheating on this boss would be justified if you do it without Dora - you've already done it once with her and you're only being forced to not use her because of a glitch. So you could temporarily set all your stats really high or something like that.
Sorry It took me so long to look at this. I had a few thing come up that had to be taken care of.

After looking at her conversation options in chapter one, If you are not still in chapter one I hope they are the same in the other chapters, The only thing i seen that would stop her from rejoining is if she is not marked as having been hired by you before. To try and fix it, we will try to add that var to yourself. Here is what you can try.

In the chat bar type.

##DebugMode 1
##dm_setvarint x0_hen_dor_HIRED 1
-- At this point your pointer should turn to a targeting pointer. target yourself.
##DebugMode 0

try and talk to her again. If it does not work let me know.

EDIT: used the wrong function above. Corrected.

The good thing is, SoU has chapters like the other expansions. Meaning she'll almost ceartainly be ready to join you again in the next chapter if you can't debug her in the current one.
Two suggestions.

1. Kill Dora. When she resurrects she may be more talkative. (odd answer but it works sometimes. *grin* )
2. Tony K's AI and henchman mod might fix it too. (it'll also make henchies (and enemies) a lot more intelligent, a must have really.

Good Luck and have fun :)

(not directly relevant to OP's problem)
There was something wrong with GOG's installer, but I believe that has been fixed recently, so if the installer was downloaded recently, it should be 1.69 for real :)
