Whenever I exit NWN some of my saved games disappear. I am running the game on Windows 10.

I'm having the same issue. I looked at the ini file and it shows it as the correct path of .\saves. My save files are there too. Even tried creating a -home with the filepath in the target for the shortcut and that didn't work either. The game doesn't recognize any of my saves.

I got it to work. So if you go into your saves file (back them up somewhere before doing this) and you'll see .SAV files for each chapter. Delete the previous chapters and just leave the current one you're in and it should work.

THANK YOU you glorious human being. This worked perfectly, I thought I had lost all my progress and corrupted my data. Couldn't google any relevant results either.

[Running Windows 10, game crashed while quicksaving and refused to read any save files after.]

You are awesome. It worked! I almost freaked out. I don't want to lose my monk.
This thread should be stickied. I had the same problem as described, and only by removing the strange spontaneously appearing "Prelude.sav" file from my Chapter 1 saves was I able to continue my game. There was nothing wrong with the Chapter 1 saves, but the game was refusing to read them in the load game screen when the previous chapter save was present in the save file folder.
I think this problem may have something to do with GoG cloud saving. I noticed in the client that it keeps "syncing cloud saves". Having any cloud saving at all in a game this old is probably a very bad idea.
I'm having the same problem but I'm on Windows 7. All of my saves are lumped together in GOG Games/NWN Diamond/saves. I've deleted every other save but nothing is showing up. Any ideas? This has happened in the past, and seems to happen when saving the game after advancing chapters.

It worked for me to get rid of the extra chapter saves. I don't mean other saves in the main save folder - I mean chapter .sav files inside a specific save folder, for example: C://user//GogGames/NWN Diamond/saves/007-MYSAVE .

Inside my 007-MYSAVE folder, there were .sav files for both Prelude.sav and Chapter1.sav . I got rid of Prelude.sav, and then MYSAVE started showing up in the game's load screen again.

I'm expecting the problem to return once I reach Chapter 2. I'll likely have to get rid of Chapter1.sav .

A few times, the old chapter saves have spontaneously reappeared in all my saved game folders, and I have to keep repeating the process.

It's irritating, but I can work around it and keep playing at least.
Thanks, but I figured it out eventually, now it works. Very annoying.
I have some confirmation that the GoG Galaxy client is causing the disappearing saves problem. I just played Saga of Aielund all today with my GoG Galaxy client shut down, and I exited and re-entered the game quite a few times to check various things online. None of my save folders got corrupted with spontaneously appearing extra .sav files.

Then, towards the end of my gaming time today, I started a character in NWN2, which requires that the GoG Galaxy client start itself before the game will boot, in my current install.

Lo and behold, after I exited NWN2 with the GoG Galaxy client running, almost all of my save folders for NWN1 had been corrupted with extra .sav files from both my Saga of Aielund mod, and bafflingly, from my last runs of the OC.

Could someone instruct me on how to uninstall the GoG Galaxy client from my computer and still have access to all my GoG game installs, without losing any save files?

My current game install main folder for all games says "GoG Galaxy", so I am not sure what will happen to all my GoG game saves if I uninstall the client, as I now want to.
You should be able to solve the problem by going into settings -> features and turning off cloud saves. Shouldn't require a full uninstall.
i just skip windows 10 altogether. it really is such a deadbeat upgrade. i have a pc dedicated to nwn. it runs winxp and nwn runs supremely smooth and flawlessly on it.

its amazing how much power is packed into pcs now, compare dto when nwn first came out. back then, it was a struggle to run nwn. but now on winxp and new hardware, nwn is like a lightspeed luxury starship.

Thanks, that seems to have solved the problem. You saved me a lot of trouble constantly cleaning out save folders. I wonder if GoG knows that they messed up cloud saving for NWN?

The better way of be sure of that is sending a report through the website or a pm to a moderator.

Very annoying. Yes this just happened to me and also this fixed my issue. I've since disabled cloud saves to prevent it.
