dogeddie: Is it really that hard to complete the OC or MoTB if I don't know what the hell I am doing in character creation?

Hickory: No it isn't. I play NWN (1 & 2) without knowing 'what the hell I am doing', and that's the way I like it. The advice you have been given -- great as it may be -- appears to be from a power gaming standpoint.
Definitely this.
You can mangle up your character creation horribly and still finish the game just fine,
and you can't really fail to make a paladin that's not at least pretty good at his job.

I am glad to hear this. I love the great advice, but damn, I'm not playing the game!!

Character creation can be a blast in and of itself, but you eventually need to pull yourself away and play the game. Once you've decided on a character, though, just see it through even if you would have done some things differently in hindsight.

Just wait till you get to Storm of Zehir and you get to design an entire four-man party ;-)

Assuming you do eventually want to try a multi-class build, I tousled this http://nwn2db.com/build/?172649 one together for you to look at… it is an un-dead hunting specialist with epic divine might at level 21 but other than that the feats | skills are open to whatever you want to try.

My advice is just play the game.

p.s.
This smite http://nwn2db.com/build/?172286 build is what I used as my Holly warrior… I don't recommend FS for a first play as you have to pick what spells to take but it easily handled the campaign and I'll add it here as a another reference in case someone wants to look at it.

Thanks for the help
Ok, I must admit the game rules are very complicated.

But the OC/MotB are so easy that any char can make it because you got some good group members.
And a single class char with good values in their most importand stats (fighter with high strengh, rogue with high dex, cleric with high wis, wizard with high int and some con for all) will most likely be better than if you take randomly 4 different classes.
When you start a game, select the race and class you want and press "recommanded" when it comes to stats and maybe skills, you will get something useful that can finish the game. This might not bring the best results, but it is surely better than choosing something random because you don´t know what you are doing.

Some memories from my first time with this game (NWN2)
- The first char I made was an aasimar paladin. In the tutorial everyone leveled up except me (Thats an ELC class). I thought the game is completely bugged and stopped playing.
- Later I tried again and choose recommanded all the time. So I ended up with a human fighter. It went well for some time until the game got harder and harder. Finally I had to quit because one battle was to hard.
Today I know the reason for this. At some point I commanded my group to follow me and I did not realize that they did not attac from that point on.

-Years later I read through some character creation guides for some time, made a good (but not perfect) char and finished OC/MotB without problems. Then I wrote my onw guide here on gog so everyone can understand the basics of this game. Now I know even more (enough to know that my guide is far from perfect), but it is good enough to give a good start to this topic. And I also know that you dont need a complicated guide to finish the game as long as you try everything out and don´t give up so fast.
That's funny - "man, this game is bugged!" ha ha
