Hello beautiful women and handsome men of GOG Realm,

I am playing the final expansion of Neverwinter Nights, Hordes of the Underdark and I reached level 22. So far the game was fairly easy even on hardest setting. I am playing as a druid and his ability to both cast spells and go melee is very welcomed so far. However, when I reached epic levels, I dont see any obvious reason to go forward as Druid and Shifter class didnt seem nice to me because you cant cast spells while you are shape changed.

So I am thinking about leveling up a few Fighter levels to be able to wear heavy armor and use other weapons. What do you think? I read that leveling as a monk + shifter is also an option but i didnt like that option.

Tnx,
Engin.

Other than the epic spells (Which are the same for druid and cleric) I think you could try to multiclass. If I remember well the D&D druid's ethos do not exist in NWN1 (once you multi-class).

One suggestion, don't miss the epic spells, I multi-classed a wizard-cleric and had problem at the end of the expansion because it didn't had spells level IX and epic.

There's a huge difference between multi-classing before and after level 20, because spell progression stops at that point and you only get more caster level. Sadly the Neverwinter Nights series never implemented the Mystic Theurge, so Wizard/Cleric is a pretty atrocious mix (and to be honest, it's still pretty bad even with mystic theurge)

Do keep in mind that more caster level is still very useful in its own right, for instance for breaking through spell resistance, so only multi-class if you're getting something concrete in return. One level of fighter for proficiencies should be fine.

I was thinking the same until I learned that Caster level has no effect in NWN. The formula for Difficulty Class for spells is,

DC = 10 + spell level + ability modifier + feat modifier.

I maybe wrong tho because Spell resistance maybe a different thing cos it also has a different formula.

Anyways, I cheated and made my wisdom 30 (which was 26) and now I can become a Dragon anytime I want. This feat is awesome indeed. Still stinks that you cant cast spells while you are a dragon.

Caster level does not affect spell DC, but it does affect many other things with spell resistance being one of the most universally applicable. While most spells do not improve further beyond caster level 20, a few do. Firestorm, for instance, continues to grow in power for each level beyond the 20th. Saving throw DC, however, is not based on caster level.
Thanks both of you. I wish I could select you both as answer so +1 for Belsirk and solution for Darvin as I learned the difference between DC and Spell resistance because of him/her.
