It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

hey all just grabbed nwn1 & 2 along with iwd1& 2 tonight and after much tweaking I was able to get the other three games to run but im running into some strange fps issues with nwn1. would not launch at all until i copied atioglxx.dll into directory set colors to compatibility and res to far lower than my actual screen size. anyone have any ideas on a fix for this? my graphics cards is also an hd 6800 series

To my understanding, the problem lies in the drivers. Try downgrading your driver if you can, as that often fixes many issues.

If you can't, you might be able to try this fix (although I never personally tried it):

EDIT: I think that there is a more recent driver version out now which fixes the issue you're talking about. So either downgrade or upgrade and it should fix your problem.

NWN1 uses OpenGL, while NWN2 uses DirectX for graphics, so the problem might be OpenGL related.
Updating your graphics driver is usually a good idea, but there were cases were older drivers worked better.
(delete the atioglxx.dll again, if you want to try other drivers)

Try different settings for Triple Buffering (Catalyst Control Center => 3D) as well as for Vertical Sync (also in the CCC), as the latter directly affects framerate.

While in the Catalyst Control Center, make sure the application is allowed to choose all of the settings.
Try disabling the AI options.

Another idea is, that the low framerate might not derive from graphics, but from audio. Try disabling all 3D sound (EAX etc.) in the game's settings.

Win7-64bit + HD 7850

Same problem. Game immediately crashes unless the older Catalyst 6.4 atioglxx.dll driver is placed into the game directory.

However, the old 6.4 opengl driver seems to be causing the game to fallback into software rendering mode resulting in the garbage FPS even at 800x600 with all the graphical settings turned down.

I've tried XP compatibility mode, disabling AERO, and installing drivers 13.9, 13.1, 12.1, 10.1, and 9.12

Nothing works. Its definitely an ATI opengl driver problem, but God only knows what the fix is. I think I give up on this one.

If you figure it out posting the solution would be appreciated.
Okay I lied. I didn't really give up. I gave it one last attempt this time with some Catalyst 9.7 drivers I found on this website:

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=412291361465ea3b74773392f6b

And... it worked! Full hardware acceleration, all settings maxed, at 1920x1080 and its running like a champ (so far).

If you are on a 64-bit OS and you still can't get it to work with any other solution trying those drivers might help (I'm guessing they should work with the 6000 series cards as well).

Good find! Yet I'm not so sure about the web source. You might want to download this from a more trusted site.

Here are links to downloads from a German game magazine (PCGames). You shouldn't have to worry about malware from this source.

Ati Catalyst 9.7 Driver incl. CCC

(Windows XP 32 Bit) [37,5 MB]
http://download.pcgameshardware.de/asset/binaries/9-7_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe

(Windows XP 64 Bit) [52,4 MB]
http://download.pcgameshardware.de/asset/binaries/9-7_xp64_dd_ccc_enu.exe

(Windows Vista/7 32 Bit) [43,5 MB]
http://download.pcgameshardware.de/asset/binaries/9-7_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe

(Windows Vista/7 64 Bit) [58,4 MB]
http://download.pcgameshardware.de/asset/binaries/9-7_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe

They also provide the whole legacy collection form Catalyst 9.3 to 10.4. Just scroll down the page of this link.

Maybe you might want to use the newest version, that works. But that'll be try and error from here on.
