Just bought this game (I see everyone else is 2.5 years ahead of me. So it goes.) and I am working my way through the silly stuff where I am too incompetent to be permitted to live...

The question: does 'thread' = 'string'? And does 'shaft' = 'branch'? I'm really sick of looking for, and trying to find a way to craft, threads and shafts.

If the words are equivalent, then it is another stupid developer trick, to use 2 terms to describe the same thing. And, if they are the same, are there any other gotchas like this that I should look out for?

If the words are *not* equivalent, then, dear respondent, please explain how to get the threads and shafts.

It's been a while, but iirc recipe ingredients are broad categories that cover various specific ingredients that can be used (e.g.: 'branch' could be one of various ingredients that fit into the 'shaft' category). Your best bet is checking the wiki.

Hope this helps.
Thanks for the speedy reply!

I did check the wiki. They are as ambiguous as the dev. So branch may be a subset of shaft and string a subset of thread? Let me play around with the recipes and see if I can verify. I should be able to get back in and play around and respond, by no later than tomorrow.
So I've been poking around a bit and I give up. The word thread just shows up sometimes and the word string at other times. Same with shaft and branch. I think the dev just hates obsessives.

I have given up on the idea of reading and applying the printed recipes, and instead, I load likely-sounding ingredients into the crafting box to see what shows up in the results box. Kinda stupid to rely on brute force, like this. But it turns out, it is the least time-consuming method.
