Myst: Masterpiece Edition has a broken puzzle.

In the Mechanical Age, there is an elevator. On top of that elevator has the controls to rotate the central tower. It is supposed to be a sound-based puzzle, there the gears lock into place and make a sound indicating which direction the tower is facing.

There is no sound. Pure silence when rotating the tower. Those sounds are necessary to complete the puzzle, and at the moment you're better off just looking up the solution.

Has anyone else encountered this? Fixed it?

Hello, are you running the game with the bundled ScummVM version (ie. as is installed by GOG) or a newer (latest) ScummVM version (2.9.0)? Are you on Windows or another platform?

You can report the issue to the ScummVM bug tracker (https://bugs.scummvm.org/) with any additional details that will help the developers reproduce and fix it or provide potential solutions. In this case, please also attach a saved game file in your report at a location close to or at where the issue manifests (eg. on top of the elevator).

Edit: Upon testing (with a recent ScummVM version) it seems that it's expected that the gears won't make a sound when their rotation finishes (the movement initiated by the right lever), but there will be a sound if you *lock* the gears again in place with the left lever. The simulator also works like that. I think that's how the original game (without ScummVM that is) worked as well.

Oh schnikies, you're right! Thank you! The Playstation version, on which I first played this, played the noise when you let the left lever down. Interesting.,
