Does this release of Myst execute via DOSbox? I've noticed a few games here on GOG are packaged as DOSbox, and as such can be worked around to run on OSX without the need for Windows Virtualisation, I'm hoping this is true for Myst.
I seem to remember that all the Myst sequels were Windows releases, so I guess I'll need to get partitioning at some point anyway...

It does not run in DOSbox.... all myst games were made to run under windows, and the masterpiece edition was made for win95 and up. Good luck!
Nope, It's windows version. There was mac os version, but I haven't seen dos version :)

For MacOS you'll probably have better chances of success buying the 10th anniversary edition. Unfortunately, I've read somewhere (amazon?) that Myst, in that package, requires MacOS 9 and fails to run on MacOSX. Look around the web; that might be fixable.

Myst runs perfectly fine in Wine. I have only tried it on GNU/Linux systems, but there's a version for Mac OS X too: http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX
Thanks all for the replies.
I think I might attempt running it under Wine, I have never used it before but it may be worth learning as I've been yearning to replay this game for a while.
