I have the all the Myst franchise collectors edition game disks, that I know of, with the exception of RealMyst which I read had two game breaking bugs, and isn't offered here anymore at the request of Cyan. I see that GoG offers cloud backups for save games in Riven. Is that the only benefit to running the GoG versions as apposed to just using my current disks with ScummVM, VirtualBox, or compatibility mode? Is there any other improvements the GoG versions will have that I won't get from the disks I already have? Are there any other changes made to the franchise here that are not a result of ScummVM or other emulator settings? Is ScummVM/dosbox the only reason some of the classic games offered by GoG have higher resolutions than the original releases?

I admit, It is nice to have all my games in a folder with extra large icons in a matching style, and allot of older games do not have icons of the same high resolution as the GoG icons to add a circle. GoG won't offer these new icons separately though, at least not yet.

I bought RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition from GoG as soon as I found out about it, as it is a digital exclusive. In fact, getting it while avoiding Steam is actually how I found out about GoG. If I already own the rest of the franchise on DVD however, is there no other reason to buy the rest of the series on GoG except for the cloud saves, and supporting Cyan in hopes that they might make more games?
