Did anyone figure out what is making Mutant Mudds crash on start-up?

This forum is pretty dead and devs haven't stopped by (not even to say hello) so probably this issue won't be fixed anytime soon with...I don't know....like a simple patch or something?

Meh, there are plenty of other games that run on my puny machine...this one is going on the "fuggedaboutit" bin :/

PS: GOG tech support is outstanding but there is only so much they can do >.>
