I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit) with a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card but I cannot get the sound to work in MR2. When I look at the "delphine.err" file in the game's data folder it says this:

(i) Available DirectSound Driver(s):
Primary Sound Driver ()
Speakers (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio) ({0.0.0.00000000}.{e7125de4-bec4-4062-9f2b-7f9977bc1261})
Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio) ({0.0.0.00000000}.{cb2a2141-8ad4-4062-a037-ebea3d62ffc9})

Query support call failure,Query support Error (EAX not supported)

Is there a way I can tell the game to disable/ignore "EAX" so I can play the game with sound? I've also found out that I can't even launch the game if I check the "Manual Settings" option in the GOG launcher. The only way I can start the game is if I uncheck that option and click the "3 2 1 Go" button. Is there anyway to fix these problems?

Are you getting an actual error with the sound or just no sound? As far as starting, ditto, but I don't see that as a problem. As far as I can tell there is zero difference in the game from having "Manual" checked to not having it checked,

As for the sound, if you are getting an error, disregard the following. If you just aren't getting any sound, I had that problem, and the reason is the settings board was designed by a moron! It's impossible to tell what you are turning up down or off! What I did is I paused during a race and went into the sound settings there, it was a little easier to understand. If this seems to be your problem let me know and I can tell you my exact settings.

Before when I played the game there was no sound at all. Basically I had to do a complete uninstall of MR2 and then a reinstall and I finally got the sound back. But I still cannot use the "Manual" settings feature in the GOG Launcher at all. If I try to enable it the game will not load. As for the sound, it looks like the only way to avoid the sound bug is to never go to the Sound menu in the game itself.

Well for what it's worth here is a pic of my settings for the IN RACE sound menu, the one you go to DURING the race. My setup gives you full SFX with no music.

Interesting. Are you able to get Direct3D to work with the game? I've never been able to get it enabled, and when I read the GOG forums it looks like there's no real way to get it to work with Win7.

Yeah it works fine. I should tell you that I don't know why. :P I am a computer moron. All I know is that for me it works. and FYI I have Win7.

I really interested to know how you got D3D to work with the game on Win7. Can you post your "motoracer2.ini" file? It's in the game directory. Also, could you post your "delphine.err" file that's located in the "data" folder in the game's directory? Maybe that will help users figure out how to get it to work on MR2.

I tried running the game again and now the sound stopped working again. I have no idea why this keeps happening. The sound works fine in the first Moto Racer game.

When I try to post that file it says "wrong file format".

Can you copy the text data from the "motoracer2.ini" and "delphine.err" files and paste it in this forum? That might work.

Thanks for posting that. I was hoping it would give some insight as to how to get D3D to work on my machine. But it looks like that kind of info isn't listed in those files. Do you know of any other ways to get D3D to work?

But I think I might be able to help your CD music issue. Do you remember how you said that sound can be edited while playing the game? It looks like you can turn on the CD music there as well (top-left must option in the menu). When I played the game again, I went into the first Sound menu and noticed the volume was turned down for some reason. So when I turned all the sliders up in the first Sound menu, and in the in-game Sound menu I disabled and re-enabled all sound settings and I got the sound and music back again.

Actually I don't like music during the races, for any race game, minus Carmageddon which really isn't a race game. I tend to get to into the song and then forget about others things, like turning. :P

As for the rest, like I said I'm a tech dud. I had no clue I could even post the stuff I just posted, If you haven't already check the rest of the MOTO threads and you might try posting your query in the Anuman Sale thread; people obviously don't look in this one enough.

I think I finally fixed the D3D issue. I noticed in the "delphine.err" file that under "(i) Memory used : Screen:" the number for the RAM was always negative when it should be positive. So in the GOG Launcher, I tried entering a negative Vram number in the Manual Settings section:
-D3D -KeepAvailableVram-1073741824 -skipintro

That seemed to do the trick and D3D finally works!
