Once again I get an Illegal version message during championship mode (I cannot drive the bike once the message appears) which means the patched version that GOG released did not really fix anything. I will send a support ticket again.

I know I already made a thread about this but It is marked as solved, (thinking I would not have the same issue again) so I decided to make a new thread to let others know about this problem. I hope that it is ok, if not then close/merge the thread.
At which point do you get this message? What track/reverse/pocket mode?

Rock Forest, reverse mode.
You uninstalled the game prior to installing the fixed version, yeah?
The GOG installer will not overwrite an already existing file, so if you just installed on top of the already installed game, the fix will not have made it.

EDIT: Disregard the above.
You could try replacing the game.exe with the one contained herein: http://81red.dk/mr.zip
That one seems to fix the gears problems mentioned elsewhere, and it would be nice to know whether it fixes your problem too.

Oh wow, this definitely solves the gear problem I've been having in MR1. Thanks a lot for the exe.

yes, I did uninstall.
I get an error when I try that .exe file. It says '16 bit mode required'
(using win 7)

The alternative .EXE behaves exactly the same as the one supplied by GOG.com in that respect. Those of us who likes to play in D3D have to use another method of loading, and if you downloaded my "mr.zip" then you already have a "mr.cmd" contained in that to play with.
Start by doubleclicking the "mr.cmd" and see what happens. :)

Thank you so much. Using the mr.cmd to start the game solved my issue. The 'illegal' message is gone!
