Vagabond: DirectX 3D is working for me with the new MotoRacer 2. There's a custom launcher (screen).
Yeah, that's the problem. If I check the Direct3D box, the game won't launch, if I leave it unchecked, it does, but looks like crap.

EDIT - I figured it out. The new launcher has an .ini file that passes those parameters already, but the value they used for the VRAM was well beyond my video card's maximum. Changing it to my card's actual amount made the game work perfectly.

Well, it works for me perfectly on my netbook if i use only -D3D command. Except for one big thing. The screen is rotated like this (see attached image). It's impossible to drive like this.
WTF!? If i leave default, the game tries to launch and then it just closes itself and i'm back to desktop. If i remove -D3D command, the game works perfectly (no rotated screen) but the graphics are crappy then.

I think it won't work correctly with just the -D3D option, you have to have the -KeepAvailableVram option there as well, just make sure it has the correct VRAM amount. Mine was set at 800000000 bytes by default (roughly 763MB) when I only have a 256MB card. With that wrong amount, my game closed itself exactly like you describe, though I never saw the rotated thing happen.
No, the game starts and runs perfectly on netbook (GMA950), even 3D is perfectly accelerated, but the entire image is rotated like on the screenshot.
Then what did you mean by this:

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding you, when you try to use the default D3D setting, the game crashes exactly like mine did, but if you only use the -D3D option without the VRAM option, it shows up sideways. If that is the case, the answer is likely still the same: put the VRAM option back in, with the correct VRAM amount.
Makes me wonder why have they set memory so high in the first place. I was playing Motoracer 2 back in the days on a system with 256MB of RAM and S3 Savage3D 8MB.
So setting VRAM memory by default to 64MB or 128MB would be more than enough for anyone, yet it's really hard to find a graphic card with less than that these days...
~700MB is a complete overkill...

81RED: No work here, sorry mate. GTX 470, what's yours?
I have a GTX570 and got it to work by putting a very high value in the -KeepAvailableVram switch.

the switches i used where... -d3d -KeepAvailableVram3800000000

You can add these via the MR2 loader by clicking the 'manual settings' option.

hope that helps
I too am having difficulty with the DirectX not working properly. I have a GeForce 9800GT with 1Gb RAM. I have tried the VRAM value of 1Gb (1024*1024*1024=1,073,741,824) and also the one quoted by alien750. Neither works, I get serious tearing of the image (see attached). Any thoughts? My specs are as follows:

AMD Phenom 9950 4 x 2.6 GHz Socket AM2
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
6Gb DDR-2 800MHz RAM
NVidia GeForce 9800GT PCI-E 1Gb
Creative Audigy XtremeMusic PCI
Windows XP x64 Professional

The previous release of Moto Racer 2 worked fine on this PC (albeit with the upper gears missing, as everyone had).

Thanks in advance!

Silly question, did you leave the commas in the VRAM number when you added it to the launcher?
No, they're just to make it easier for us here to read :) I created a shortcut to moto.exe, with the arguments
-d3d -KeepAvailableVram1073741824

Okay, that's likely the problem. Don't create a shortcut to moto.exe, use the regular shortcut with the GOG launcher, but add those arguments as "manual settings" within the launcher.
Thanks, but then I get a black screen with an "hourglass" waiting cursor. Adding "-skipintro" makes it get to the front screen, but with the corrupted image I have seen in my screenshot earlier.
