Hey guys, the above is from Gamefaqs to get to the cheat menu in MK3 on PC. I've only ever played console ports of this as a kid, and this code doesn't work for me. As soon as i press anything during the intro it skips to character select. Any ideas?

There were 2 versions of MK3 for PC. The DOS one available on GOG and a Windows 95 one which was a port of the PSX version - the above cheat is for that version of the game.

Cheats for the DOS version are done with launch commands, or in the case of this GOG version, editing dosboxMortalKombat3_single.conf

For example, if you go to the ":game" section and change:

mk3.exe

to:

mk3 666 1000000

you can now play as Smoke and also Montaro and Shao Kahn (although only in 2P mode for those two).

NOBLOOD - Turns off blood until you turn it back on.
BLOOD - Turns blood back on.
NOVIOLENCE - Turns off fatalities until you turn it back on.
VIOLENCE - Turns on fatalities. Blood must also be on for fatalities to work.
