I believe that for the Steam version, the game just takes your user name on Steam, but for the GoG version the game did not take my GoG user name and just assigned me a really weird, random user name.

Any way to change it? I was not able to do find an option for that...

I changed the user name in the logfile using this path, but it didn't change my user name in-game...

C:>users>* user name *>AppData>LocalLow>Shiny Shoe>Monster Train>Logfile.log

I finally managed to figure out how to do this, you need to go into "gog-uid" and change the "GeneratedDisplayName".

Here's a step-by-step guide, hope it helps. :)

Go to:

C:>users>(your user name)

Go to the "view" drop down, pick "show", and make sure "hidden items" is checked. That will enable you to see the AppData folder.

Open that folder, and go to:

AppData>LocalLow>Shiny Shoe>Monster Train>

Right-click on gog-uid.json and select "open with" and pick Notepad

You will see a single line of text, that says:

{"generatedID":"GogSignedOut-b4504650-be6f-4a04-a992-64ffe6680f2c","generatedDisplayName":"THISISTHEPARTTOCHAN GE","lastKnownGogID":"","lastKnownGogDisplayName":""}

It defaults to something like train conductor####### or something, whatever, doesn't matter, change it to whatever you want here.

Save the file, start the game, and voila.
