Hi everybody!

I just wanted to share my findings as I hadn't seen anyone post anything yet. I'm a big fan of Escape from Monkey Island and was planning on streaming it today, but found that the lack of cutscenes or windowed mode made it extremely difficult. After about an hour of searching I've come across the resolution for these and wanted to share them with you guys.

1. Cutscene audio plays but doesn't display anything

This was a tough one, and to be honest my solution may not be yours, but all I had to do was install QuickTime player. Once that was installed the cutscenes played normally within the game. (for the record, the way I found this out was I looked at the video files within the game's installation folder, and googled the file extension (m4b).) I hope that, if you're experiencing that issue, that that fixes it for you.

2. Windowed mode/Could not initialize your hardware

To give credit where credit is due, I initially fixed the initialization issue thanks to the thread created by DarkSith1 on this forum, but in my searching I found command line settings you could include that will allow you to not only launch the game without selecting the launcher in the installation folder, but also run it in windowed mode, which is extremely usefull if you want to tab out or stream it, as when it's full screen it proves difficult to get it out of focus.

Here are the command lines: -gl -w -16

just include those on the settings page within GOG Galaxy and you'll be good to go! I hope this helps someone get this game up and running!
