Does the game basically run as it did back in the day? That's usually all GOG does except in special cases like Diablo where a game is likely to sell exceptionally well. (Plus GOG isn't "Good Old Games" anymore, their focus is on all games not just fixing up old ones for new machines.) Folks can contact Support though if they're really upset. Is there wailing and gnashing of teeth over this release? ;)

I mean, the cybrids are just as vicious as I remember. I was really hoping I'd be magically better at this game now.
Well, knowing that GOG just makes it compatible for the game to run on todays OS and nothing else is something I didn´t know. This is my first "older" game bought from GOG. The biggest issue for me is that the red/dark game tiles look real bad making it quite difficult to even see the hex outline. That´s my biggest complain, with the rest I could live with more less...

Anyhow. Thanks!
Well, I was going to pick this up after seeing Space Game Junkie's play through, but with the screen resolution issues - I can't pull the trigger at this time. Way to lose a sale, GOG. :-)
Unfortunately, the problem with the screen resolution in the game settings was not solved by the GOG team: (((((
I know its not optimal, but you can chance your resolution manually...
browse to your install path (\GOG Galaxy\Games\Missionforce Cyberstorm)
find the file SIERRA.INF
edit, notepad is just fine
about 100 lines down, so maybe you want to search, are two parameters

ScreenWidth=1360
ScreenHeight=768

or whatever you prefer
Editing Sierra.inf worked great for me, along with manually changing my display resolution in Windows to dodge high-dpi issues.
