The game runs well enough in Wine, which is something my old CD version never did, but unlike the old 90s version of course it tops out at a *very* low resolution, and attempts to increase said resolution cause an appalling graphical error that renders the game unplayable.
I don't actually know what might be necessary, tinkering either with the old CD version or the current GOG version, to get this to display in a reasonable way. Sadly the CD version, with *every* permutation of Windows fixes I've tried, does not run in Wine.*
If anybody's considering working on this problem, I do have the old CD in an image if they wanna tinker with it and see if something can be done for either the GOG or CD version to make it run right.

* Same problem Outpost had: It prolly works fine if your whole OS is booted in 256 colors.

Do you have the following preferences set:

1. Game always fills entire screen
2. Use extra screen real estate for battle terrain

If you do set those, how does it behave?
Yeah, the result is it's quite cramped, especially compared to the vanilla experience of the game on disk.

Okay that's...
not a vast improvement...

I got it to handle more screen real estate visually.
By turning off the "fills entire screen" setting, restarting the game (as one must to make the settings take effect), and letting it change my monitor settings, then changing the settings back again, then maximizing the window, I was able to get it to look like it always used to, using the whole screen and the vast majority of that screen devoted to map. It finally looks right!
And the mouse cursor's position has no idea where it's supposed to be clicking.

Try this: https://juanitogan.itch.io/cyberstorm-patch . I don`t know if it runs under Wine, but under newer Windows Versions it makes the original CD Version playable better than the gog version ;)
