I've experienced random freezes while playing the game, most of the time during interaction with enemies. The game completely freezes and I have to kill it. I'm running the game under Windows 10 with max. video settings. Upon relaunching the game, I was able to play past the point of the previous freeze. This happened to me about 8 times during my playthrough.

Is this a known problem?

Is there a way to set the game language without manually editing registry keys? I've found no ingame setting.

There is no ingame option to change the language, at least I never found one. The game uses your Windows language settings (don't know if its the system's default language, the current user's interface language or some other location setting). Editing the registry works fine is pretty straightforward. The language is being set here (in this case to English):

This is for a 64bit Windows; on 32bit, you would need to remove Wow6432Node from the above paths. Also, it's for the retail version of the game, not the GOG version. Don't know if they behave differently.

As for the performance issues when enemies shoot you, you may need to disable physx in the settings - it should help.

I believe there is a language_setup.exe application in the game folder, which just let you set the language. That should IMHO save you registry editing.

Turns out it was my Xbox Bluetooth controller that caused the random freezes, weird. I noticed that everytime the game freezed, the controller's light was flashing a few times as if it's trying to reconnect. I then replaced the batteries and the problem was gone.

Try to disable PhysX. That should fix it.

is it like a quick freeze whenever you click the mouse? it's been doing that for me since i replaced my windows default amd drivers, my guess it's soemthing to do with that distortion effect that happens when you punch?
