I wonder thought why the original version's version number went backwards? It used to be 2.0.0.4, now it is 2.0.0.1? Is it still the newest version of the original game that was here before? I just kept both original versions for now, just in case.

The enhanced edition is version 2.1.0.6.

EDIT: Apparently that was explained here:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_what_did_just_update_thread/post10947

So the 2.0.0.1 version doesn't have any Galaxy features (like can be installed with Galaxy), 2.0.0.4 apparently does. I presume there are no actual game content changes then between those two original versions...

Unfortunately ONLY ON GOG the original version does not support German and other languages WHICH THE STEAM VERSION DOES. GOG assured me that they would try to update the original version as well should they receive the files and should it be possible. The devs told me that they will talk to GOG which has not happened since a week. So I asked them again yesterday and my question was deleted. Not happy about this bevaviour from the devs. It's simply unfair that I get an outdated version on one store and an up to date version on another store. Since both versions (original/enhanced) are different simply using the enhanced version instead for me is not an option. I want BOTH versions with additional languages - the same I would get if I had bought it on steam. Hopefully the devs will fix this soon.

Are the fixes not needed on Mac and Linux, are their patches coming later, or are they omitted?

I'm not working for GOG so I can't tell you for sure, but I guess the patches for Mac and Linux will arrive a little later.
