I generally switch to Roland MT32 Midi when available. After my game started hardlocking DOSBox, I switched to SB Pro and SB 16, respectively, but it is still locking up. I mention sound config since most of the search results for "xeen dosbox crash" recommend setting the sound config to default. However, I don't know what they were set to originally for my GoG version. I will try Pro and Pro to resolve my issue, but the answer would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know about how the sound is designed and played in this game? Usually you choose one card for sound and one card for music. However since I'm playing the Full Speech version, it's one card for music and effects, and one for speech. Normally should it be one card for music and another for speech/effects. And sure enough, the game uses the music card for a number of effects, such as the blacksmith's hammer pounding. Sounds weird. Another strange bit is that you can select up to the SB Pro for Music/Effects, but the SB 16 is supported for speech only. Dafuq?
This post might help, although I'm not sure if it's referencing the "full talkie" version of World of Xeen (GOG only added that version semi-recently).
