Hello,

I recently started playing the Might and Magic series, after being a Heroes of Might and Magic fan for years and years now. As someone that loved Heroes, as well as RPGs, I figured it would be a good pick for me. Well, I decided to mess around with 6 to start with, since I currently don't have access to paper and pencils to map out 1, and I have a question, especially after reading a review of 6.

Is there a good story in 6? Is there a good story in any of them? Are any of them focused on story more than just dungeon crawling/loot collecting/killing, which is what 6 seems to be based around after I cleared the first 2 dungeons.

I was really looking forward to these games because I expected a great story. Just curious if any of them have a good one/focus on it at all.
I don't know about 6, but I've played 4, 5 and 7. Don't expect the story to be on par with some of the greatest RPGs ever made. The story in M&M games is just there to hold the action together, to give you a reason for questing and dungeon crawling. It's nothing exciting, and features long-lost artifacts of great power, and cardboard-cutout villains and their plans for world domination. Don't expect any emotional catharsis or stellar writing. Those games focus on fun gameplay, not excellent storytelling.
Charon121 is correct; MM6 is no exception to the rule for the series. There are some cool twists and elements to the world and the events that occur (especially in the earlier games) but the story is definitely not the focus for the series. MM6 especially has tons of monsters and can often feel like a slog. You might try MM3 or MM4-5 (they form one giant game) if you can stand the older interface if you get tired of the mobs of monsters in MM6. My personal opinion is that MM4-5 are better than MM6, but MM6 is still a great game.

Don't worry; the story won't interfere with the fun in the M&M games.

Well, if you just wanna play and don't feel like mapping yourself in the first place, there are maps on gamefaqs, or a few other sites which provide annotated maps for MM1
