So, I'm playing Might and Magic III and I have some questions.

1) There's supposedly a secret room in the Dragon Cave with lots of gold. In the cluebook provided with the game it even tells you the password to access the room, but when I type it at the mirror it says "unknown destination". Was this removed in later versions or am I not doing something correctly?

2) I want my characters to have as much HP as possible, so I was wondering if the training grounds at the different towns give the same amount of HP per level or where I should train to get the most HP gain.

3) What is the maximum level characters can attain in this game?

Thank you in advance for the help!

1) Did you try Doe Meister? I know that some codes from cluebooks don't work, but Doe Meister should work just fine.

2) HP gains don't depend on kind of training grounds. They are fixed and change with Lv and Endurance (retroactively).

3) 200 in training grounds of last town. You can increase it further by using permanent level boosts (they are quite rare, you can make notes on where they are and use them when you are Lv.200).

1) Sarisio already answered this question, but the Dragon Cave has secret rooms that can only be reached by casting Teleport. (Yes, that spell works there.)

2) Maximum HP is a function of race, class, level and endurance. Given those stats, maximum HP can be determined; nothing else matters. It does not matter where you trained, whether your endurance was once higher or lower, or whether your level or endurance is only temporary. (Note that having level or endurance go down can result in your HP exceeding its maximum.)

If you want the most current HP possible, the trick is to have two characters with HP above their maximum casting Half for Me on each other. (See my Half for Me topic for details.) Be careful, as HP overflow can occur (if HP exceeds 32,767), and the HP gained with Half for Me is treated as damage, so HP overflow will most likely cause death.

3) You can train to level 200. Permanent level bonuses can take level to 255. Temporary level bonuses can give you an additional 250 thanks to a pay-to-use fountain in the desert, allowing you to reach a temporary level of 505. Note that raising level past 255 may cause certain calculations to overflow.
Thank you both for your very informative answers. I advanced some more and have two other questions:

1) How exactly does interest at the bank work?

2) I see that the hireling The Raven is 134 years old! I know that as characters age they get penalties. Is it the same with hirelings? How does aging work for them?

Thanks in advance for any input on these question!

1. A week is 10 days. On the first day of each week, at 5 AM, your bank account funds increase by 1%. (Note that there are only 10 weeks in a year, so this amounts to 10% interest compounded weekly.) Both gold and gems are increased. This probably won't be an issue if you play normally, but if your bank account passes 2 billion, your bank account may overflow and become negative or small. Shops also stock new inventory at this time.

2. Aging works the same way it does for your characters. The penalties are manageable: at 101, the penalty is only -20 to physical stats. At 201, the penalty increases to 50. (Note that this is a sudden increase.) Strength, Speed, Endurance, and Accuracy go down. Intelligence and Personality actually increase. Death from old age can only happen if one of your stats is 0 or less (but can happen regardless of age if, for example, poison or insanity lowered a stat to 0).

3, You didn't mention it, but World of Xeen works the same way, as does Swords of Xeen.
