Unfortunately, Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor as it is on my Might and Magic: Millennium Edition was giving me problems such as crashing and random lockups. The setup for the very game was never able to detect a modern Direct X application, I may very well think it is bugged. Therefore, running the game with 3D Hardware Acceleration would always crash. Not once did I make it to the title screen.

So I decided to spend $5.99 on the GOG version of MM7. Unfortunately it is not without it's problems, though they're a bit different from the ones I encountered on the Millennium Edition.

This message in particular, of which I've received from other games before, is more than frustrating.

This problem can be fixed by downloading an updated Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, but for now I am unable to enjoy the game.

It's either putting that and replacing some files, or downloading an unofficial patch.

Neither the MM7 I have on the Millennium Edition nor the GOG.com version work.

EDIT: I don't know why the hell it's grabbing the MM7-Rel.exe application.

This is after clicking on 'Options' then launching Might and Magic VII.

Okay, no matter what I do, the same message pops up.

Should you guys know what to do with C++ (it's been a while since I've dealt with this problem) or know a patch file that fixes things, I'm stuck with the game being broken.

There are numerous problems getting the CD versions of the game running on modern Windows OSes. My advice in this case would be to find the better Might and Magic forums (TELP's Redneck tavern or something like that? Been a while...) and browse for threads related to the issue. I know Greyface's patch fixes a lot of things and makes running the game in Windows XP (and later?) OSes much easier but not sure if this would be any help to you.

As for the GOG version not working for you...I have no idea how to fix this. Get Greyface's M&M 7 patch and browse forums.
