I have started the first promotional quest for crusader. I picked both my fighters before i looked up what classes it will lead to.
Now can i abort the quest and or just pick another promotional quest for mercenary instead?

Is there any way to abort the quest?

IIRC, you can simply take alternative promotion quest and complete it first.
