Before today´s update, i had a problem with MM2, when starting it sudenly closed, no matter what, i tried all the graphic modes (surface, overlay, OpenGl...), an then upgrading the dosbox version of the launcher, all the games worked perfect, but MM2 did not start.
Today i saw the update, i deleted the files and istalled it, MM2 now runs stable...but now, all the sounds, voices and music of World of Xeen suffers lag...again, the other games works great, but both versions of Xeen (speech and non speech) got this problem, i tried, again, all the graphic modes with the new laucher, but is worthless,it must be the speech pack i guess... god i hate this computer.
My computer is a windows 7-32 bit netbook, with 1gb Ram and 1.66Ghz, any ideas before contacting the support?, thaks for your time.

Are you sure it's just 1GB of RAM? That could be contributing to your problem. 1GB is not much RAM for Windows 7. Have you tried some of the other [mixer] or [sblaster] settings? Maybe you could drop back to an sb1 or sbpro1 for the sbtype= field.
Messing with the blocksize & prebuffer settings should help with the sound stuttering.
thanks guys, but i tried before changing the prebuffer values, it didn´t worked, now i tried with the blocksize and there´s no change...
Okay, the config file says this:
________________________________________________
[mixer]
# nosound -- Enable silent mode, sound is still emulated though.
# rate -- Mixer sample rate, setting any devices higher than this will
# probably lower their sound quality.
# blocksize -- Mixer block size, larger blocks might help sound stuttering
# but sound will also be more lagged.
# prebuffer -- How many milliseconds of data to keep on top of the blocksize.

nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=2048 (tried with 3048 value, nothing happens)
prebuffer=80 (tried 100, 150 and 200, nothing)

[midi]
# mpu401 -- Type of MPU-401 to emulate: none, uart or intelligent.
# device -- Device that will receive the MIDI data from MPU-401.
# This can be default,alsa,oss,win32,coreaudio,none.
# config -- Special configuration options for the device. In Windows put
# the id of the device you want to use. See README for details.

mpu401=intelligent
device=default
config=

[sblaster]
# sbtype -- Type of sblaster to emulate:none,sb1,sb2,sbpro1,sbpro2,sb16.
# sbbase,irq,dma,hdma -- The IO/IRQ/DMA/High DMA address of the soundblaster.
# mixer -- Allow the soundblaster mixer to modify the DOSBox mixer.
# oplmode -- Type of OPL emulation: auto,cms,opl2,dualopl2,opl3.
# On auto the mode is determined by sblaster type.
# All OPL modes are 'Adlib', except for CMS.
# oplrate -- Sample rate of OPL music emulation.

sbtype=sb16 (sb16:the default, sounds and music lagged, crash at cutscenes/sb1: no music, only lagged sounds/sb2: the same/sbpro1:exactly like sb16, no crash at cutscenes/sbpro2:the same)
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true (tried the false value, nothing happens)
oplmode=auto
oplrate=22050

any recomenadation with the values?, in the non updated version the music and the game worked great, im wondering if it´s a way to change back to that release, the speech is not that important, and i can play MM2 in the SNES or Sega version, but World of Xeen was the main reason for purcrhasing this pack in the first place..

and yes, it´s an 1Gb ram computer, but i guess that´s not the problem, if the others works, (MM3 with almost the same game engine, Swords of Xeen with the same engine, and MM6 with a superior one...) this should work too, it must be the new cofiguration for the speech pack.

It looks like the only difference from before is that the prebuffer is now set to 80 instead of 10. Try changing the graphics output from output=overlay to output=opengl or output=ddraw you can also do this with the "Graphics Mode Setup" GOG includes but make sure to run that as an admin.
as i said, i already tried it, it didn´t work, even as an admin.

(god i wrote this like three times and it never appeared ._.)

Ah your right, I forgot. My bad.

I'm not sure what else to suggest now. You could try running the install.exe through dosbox and changing the soundcard through there (you might also need to adjust it in the config afterwards as well). Other than that it's probably going to be a combination of cycles, output, blocksize & prebuffer.

Also, try closing all non-essential background programs so you can get the most out of your CPU.
ok people, i figured out what to do, first, i settled the highest value for the Dosbox priority, then i changed the "Cycles" value to "(auto)", for some reason, the non-speech version still crash at some cutsenes, but the speech version runs smooth (the irony). Thanks for all your help, i´m really grateful for the suggestions.

Awesome, I'm glad you got all the games working!
