Something truly bizarre happened with my latest game that I was close to winning. Somehow I lost Ritual of the Void without realizing it. Then, when I destroyed the robot (or whatever) at the center of the Hive ... instead of giving me to the Hive Queen and the opportunity to escape, the world just blew up, no Hive Queen. I always save right before the final destruction, so I still have the game up to that point (and I have an earlier save I'm working from that fortunately wasn't too far back. I don't suppose portaling / beaconing out of the Hive would accomplish anything like that ... ?

Portaling out of the Hive should work like any other dungeon until you destroy the reactor. After you destroy the reactor, the ending is determined by whether you have the scroll on you when you leave the area, regardless of how you leave (whether you portal/beacon out or use the door).

I don't think I've ever destroyed the reactor without having the scroll with me. If you destroy the reactor without having the scroll, then I could easily see them just skipping straight to the cut scene since nothing else you do matters and the world will be destroyed.

Indeed, that was what happened. I found the solution elsewhere, though. I went to the seer and clicked "I lost it," but it turns out for some reason that I thought I had saved at one point and I hadn't. I had not actually trained from lvl 64 to 82, and never got the Ritual of the Void scroll, so I TPd out, Beacon to Ironfist to complete that quest, then won the game.

Congrats! :)

And now for my usual rote comment on question threads: if your question is answered, please mark the relevant post as the solution. That way others can see the question has been answered, as well as jump straight to the answer (granted, that isn't a concern here).
