So, all ethical questions aside please, I am unable to get either of the 2 most popular MM7 editors to even see saved games for the GOG version of MM7. I have changed the folder to all access read/write and made sure the file was not hidden. (Vista, naturally btw.) Editor is pointed at correct directory (program files/gog.com/mm7/saves) and I see the save game files from explorer, but the editors do not. Any advice?

thanks;
Mndrew

Do you happen to use any mods? Maybe they screw things up.

If no, then maybe those editors are for certain game version or something like that.

Make 2 copies of the save game folder, both outside of Program Files. Keep one folder as a backup, and try editing the files in the other.

If successful, copy the edited files back to your original save folder.

You will also probably need to copy the files to the virtual store save folder which should be something like C:\Users\<your_account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\gog.com\mm7\saves

And you can generally avoid these problems by installing games outside of Program Files.

That sounds like it should work. I'll give it a shot as soon as I get home from the job. Thanks.
(as to installing outside of program files, tell GOG, you're preaching to the choir here. ;D )

You can change the destination folder by clicking the OPTIONS button when running the GOG installer.

It's likely that your saves are actually in this virtual store location, and that's why the editor didn't see them.
No, my saves are in the main directory, they show up on an explore if I choose compatibility view. Unfortunatly copying them to a different directory (Temp, in this case) did not make them viewable by the mm7che software.

Are you running the editor program as Administrator ?
Oops, forgot to post this. Found solution, it was to move the editor to the game folder from the download folder.

What editor are you using I am trying MM7che 3.00 and am having no luck. Any Suggestions?
To have MM7che.exe working, you have to browse to the game folder, not the "saves" folder.
ex: if your saves are in C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Might and Magic 7\Saves
you have to browse with MM7che.exe to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Might and Magic 7

It's the same with MM6che and MM8che, you have to browse to the game folder, not the "saves" folder

Thank you for the virtualstore path, I was able to finally find it
