He gives to the party 3 points in every weapon skill!
Worth it?

He can be found in New Sorpigal near the Expert Staff Building

You'll have to figure that out for yourself.

You can get a description for each stat and for each skill by right-clicking the stat or skill. Have to hold the right-click, otherwise the description will disappear when letting go. You can also slide the cursor around while holding right-click, going from one stat (or skill) to another. Be careful not to left-click on a skill because that will add skill points to the skill. Only right-click. (Or maybe I'm wrong and hovering without clicking at all reveals it. It's been a while…)

The description for each skill will reveal how it affects the character, such as the number being added to attack stat or sometimes to the armor class stat. That will also depend on the three types of each skill, such as being a "master".

For example, if the weapon skill value for the currently wielded weapon of the character affects the attack stat in some manner, then the value of the attack stat will change when that weapon skill value changes. It will also change when the character is no longer wielding a weapon for that weapon skill.

Read the descriptions for both the skills and the stats a skill affects, I'm sure you'll figure it out for each character with their current weapons. You'll probably being figuring that continuously as you get new weapons and increase skills and become master at various skills.
You will need a lot of gold during the early stages of the game. Benefits, which you might get from those recruitable NPCs are not worth hiring them.

You will need gold to buy spells, to train, to learn new skills, to raise skill ranks, to move around, etc. If you will be hiring NPCs, you won't have enough gold to train in later stages of the game. And in later stages of the game Gold=EXP (you will find out why by yourself, I won't spoil it).

Personally, I only get those NPCs, which are required for some quest and I try to get rid of them as soon as possible, because even quest NPCs steal some gold from corpses.
I never found lack of gold a problem in MM6, unlike some of the previous M&M games.
Put some points in Merchant skill, sell all loot you find, and shop around for the cheapest training halls.

Another thing to consider is that your score depends on how much in-game time you use, so recruiting a Gate Master can significantly cut down on travel time in the early game. But I guess it's not a priority if it's the first time you play the game.

In MM6, there is no reason not to take any NPCs. If you're worried that cost/benefit is not worth it for all of them, then at least take the banker and factor. They give you net extra gold without any disadvantage (except for the small one time hire fee). There is no reason not to take them.

By the way, those NPCs reset every time you enter the area or reload. So if you know what you want, and don't mind cheesing it, just keep reloading till you get the one you want to hire.

Personally I liked Teacher and Instructor (extra XP), but others are good too.

I am a Scholar and Teacher guy at the beginning. (Switch over to banker later.)
No points or money for identification and extra exp. points to boot.
As for increasing weapon skill in MM6: remember MM6 is "might and MAGIC" .

Teacher early and banker later? Did you get those reversed? I'd say banker early and teacher (or better yet, Instructor) later. You need money early, and you roll in money later even without a banker.

Nope. I keep pushing exp points until I have to fix the temple/church (around level 20- 25). When I drop off the stone cutter and carpenter, I get a banker to help pay for the training and more expensive tomes.

Ah. I just keep pushing experience points, regardless. After I got over the early game hump, I never had an issue with getting the gold to pay for training, and I'm willing to wait on most spells until the gold comes rolling in.

Well, the game becomes so much fun playing as a solo knight. Although MAGIC is overpowered to the max, you can do fun things with MIGHT. The key is to minimize the recovery rate. Maximize your Bow skill (reduces recovery rate per point of skill at Expert level) and Speed stat, find a swift bow ASAP, craft a metric tonne of Haste potions. Eventually, you'll fire arrows like a gatling gun and become unstoppable.

That method is completely new for me. Especially in MM6.
I often thought that if I had the talent to design a game, the most fun for me would be to see how players were able to beat the game in ways I never anticipated. The better the game, the more alternatives in ways to win.
Add one more for me in MM6

Awesome!

It wasn't my idea. I got it from a YouTube video titled: "Might and Magic 6: solo knight no reload no pause part 23(EndGame)".

The first time I watched this video I jumped out of my seat because this guy is dominating the game solo with the worst class.

I played this way my self. It's actually doable. Keep in mind that dual-wielding absolutely gimps your character (an unofficial patch fixes that). You spend the first half of the game abusing Haste potions and some kind of legendary vampiric weapon you find early on. Then you slowly build your bow skill to absurd values.

Also, it took me the longest time to realize that you can beat the game by not fighting. The dungeons are so huge that you can just run by all the enemies and just grab the quest item at the end. You don't even need to survive LOL. Just grab whatever you need haha. And surprise, surprise...the Knight is really good for that.

How is that so? And which patch fixes it?

https://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/mm#TOC-GrayFace-MM6-Patch-v2.0

FixDualWeaponsRecovery option fixes wrong recovery time calculation for characters wielding a weapon in second hand. Dual-wielding was useless before the fix due to doubled recovery time. After the fix it works as in MM7 and MM8.

What this basically means is that dual wielding was supposed to let you have 2 attacks in place of 1. In MM6 however, having a second weapon doubles recovery time (that is, it adds up the recovery time of both weapons), so in essence you didn't really get any extra attacks and the only positive effect of dual wielding was bonuses from both weapons, if any.

MM7 and MM8 did this properly without the patch.

I see. I already use the GrayFace patch, so things are OK on my end. Thanks.
