Hi,

I'm running MM1 under WinXP Prof SP3 64 Bit. The game works fine so far, but it crashes very often, when Im returning to the inn or when going from one map to another. Maybe it is something with the disk access in this situations.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ulf
A couple things you could try... first, update to the latest version of DOSBox. The version that comes with the MM pack on GOG is not the latest. I recommend doing this anyway even if it doesn't fix the problem. It's at dosbox.com. You can just install it over your current install.

Second, try changing the graphic mode using the graphic mode setup utility provided by GOG. You should be able to find this on the start menu under the Might and Magic entry, and also in your install directory. Play around with a few different settings and see if they help.
Thank you, but none of this helped. Is there any possibility to find out what the problem is? Log files or something like this?

I don't know, unfortunately. Anyone with more DOSBox experience know what might be happening?

Hmm, do you have any issues with any other dosbox games? I'm not aware of any error logs for dosbox unfortunately and looking through the wiki doesn't show any command line switches that would give you additional information. Are you using the dosbox.conf that came with the game? If so, trying using the default dosbox.conf instead or vice versa. Try running dosbox from the command line to see if it spits out any messages when it crashes. Maybe try moving the install directory and see if that helps, or even just a reinstall may help.

From what you've stated this sounds like a game issue not a dosbox issue but who knows. My gut says something is corrupted but I don't have a XP 64 bit machine to test unfortunately. Best of luck!
Yeah there could be something corrupted... perhaps redownloading and reinstalling might help? You can backup your savegame by making a backup of roster.dta, that holds all the save info.

NOTE: If you reinstall the game, it might not recognize the newer version of DOSBox. You will probably have to install the old one again and then update manually.
