I will be playing and all of a sudden the screen will go black. Just the game world, i can still see the hud and map as well as the inventory and settings pages. i would like to know if anyone else has this problem and if there is a way to fix it.

Did you try pressing Alt+Tab to change to windowed mode and then pressing Alt+Tab to go to fullscreen again?

no that didnt do anything. the problem is getting worse, now whenever i load a game the game world is still all black.

Mine too, but not suddenly. Once character creation complete, I can see the HUD and go into the menus, but there is nothing in the main window showing the world eg black screen

Does this happen at night, or under water? That's a known problem. Also, I've found that messing with the gamma controls results in a black screen. So I don't touch it.
