Hello, i wanted to try MM8 because I was curious about the gameplay. I picked it before MM6 and 7 because is the shorter game as I know.

I have two questions, the first is that I have read somewhere that there is an option to switch between real time and turn based mode, but I have not found any button that change gameplay in the game. Maybe it was only a feature in the earlier two games?.

Also I wonder if there is a mod to strafe/sidestep intead of only turning the camera direction with lateral arrows. I am not a retro-gamer so it would be difficult for me to not have this in a real time game.

The only game in the series that I have played is MM10.
From the manual, page 34:
Key: Enter
Effect: Toggles real time and turn-based modes

From the manual, page 28:
Key: Ctrl Key (+ movement key)
Function: Movement Modifier for Left and Right Arrow
Result: Strafe (move sideways while facing forward).

There was a feature set up where you could set it up for each type of enemy by color. Each of the different models have 3 different levels of difficulty. They will usually have a slightly different name.

Let's say you face a minotaur(red), a minotaur warrior(blue), and minotaur king(yellow) this is just an example. There is an options I believe to switch that on and off.

Yeah, it was a (kind of rushed) equivalent to the different sprites in MM6/7. 8 is definitely a shorter game, but that's partially because it was rushed out and there are some places where that really shows (monster recolors, quest items with no quests, shortened promotion system). If you're playing 8 and it seems rough you might try 7 which I thought felt the best of the three.
