Hello, I've recently bought Might and Magic 8 but the game keeps crashing on me. First instance was, whenever I went into the inn, now it crashes when I try to look at my characters inventory. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or to the gog.com staff, are you working on a fix?
It didn't happen to me early on at all except booting up arcomage a few times but after I got one of the heartstones it got nearly unbearable. It would crash every time I clicked on my main dudes portrait and most times I clicked another. When I got most the way through the plane between planes I couldn't enter new areas without an immediate crash. Prevented me from finishing it and I was/am pretty irritated.
I am not sure if it will help. But I got problems with MM8 some time ago. MM8 started to crash right on launch. Apparently, setting compatibility mode to "Windows 98 / Windows ME" for MM8.exe have solved my problem. Perhaps it could help you as well.
My MM8 game (patched using Greyface's patch) crashes whenever I try to display the stats of my Necromancer (the one from the 1st island), or to display the resume of the party ('z'). Setting the compatibility mode to 98/ME didn't help. Would anyone have any pointers?
Weird, I am having this exact problem and came here to post this. The stats page of my necromancer started to crash my game. I tried kicking him out of the party, but that only caused my game to crash whenever I went to the adventurer inn. Neither a fresh reinstall, disabling music, or windows 98 compatability mode has helped thus far, but I'll keep looking for solutions and reply if I find something.
From Flamestryke's MM8 website regarding the STATS PAGE CRASH BUG: First, reload the game, then select the character that is having the bug. (In my case it was Simon Templar) Then go to his cast spell screen (even if he has none), then hit the set quickspell button. This clears the bug, and the screens can be seen. Like I said, my problem came with Simon Templar's skills screen and inventory. The fix recommended by 3DO fixed it both times - Warrax

This instantly fixed my stats page bug which occurred on my created character.
