Hi,

The title says it all: the game crashes right after I enter Escaton's Palace.

It's a real bummer because I want to finish the game.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a solution?

Nevermind! I found a solution.

Just lower the music and sound to the max.

I feel lonely answering my own questions :(

If anyone reads this, please reply. I just feel silly.

I want to replay MM8 eventually after I am done with some other games.
High level necromancers need to be very careful not to blow themselves to kingdom come with their own Dragon Breath spell.
Thanks for the response everyone!

Well, I am currently stuck right now in the fiery prison. This is the moment when I realize that playing with a Solo Knight was such a bad idea. The floors are covered in lava and the Horrors are immune to physical damage. I don't even know if I can finish the game now. Perhaps I should get an invisibility scroll?

The other annoying thing about soloing with a Knight is that Water Breathing potions are so rare, I think that I encountered more relics and artefacts than these potions actually. Go figure.

Just don't solo with a Knight. It sucks because you can't hire peasants with special abilities like in MM6&MM7.

An invisibility scroll should let you run past, while weapons with elemental damage will let you (slowly) damage them (which you probably already knew). I don't remember whether the corridors were too narrow or packed with monsters to just straight up run without invisibility; maybe you can try that.

Several areas in the Fire Prison have pseudo ledges on either side of the lava that you can stand on without taking damage. This is probably more beneficial while trying to invis past monsters.

I seem to recall that jumping while running can reduce some of the burning damage, since you are in the air for part of the time instead of on the damaging floor.

Pack Divine Cure potions for healing, of course.
Thanks!

Yeah, the corridors are narrow and my hit points are quickly draining because the enemies are ranged. I have been relying a lot on my vampiric spear to stay alive. It worked so well until now because lava and ranged enemies are my bane. The biggest problem is the Horror in the entrance.
Actually, I think I am going to hire a bunch of party members. A vampire for levitation and some liches for magic. I am not dead set on a solo Knight playththrough if it prevents me from finishing the game.

You could try hiring the level 50 vampire, place him in mistform and just have him levitate your knight. It would work sort of like going solo, just eliminating the ever present trap floor in the fire prison.
