I didn't use to have this problem about a year or so ago when I played this game heavily. Now, when I pick it up again, the game crashes immediately on startup and refuses to load.

So far I've tried:

-Uninstalling and reinstalling
-Checking compatibility mode (runs compatibility for Windows 95)
-Switching between windowed and fullscreen
-Enabling, disabling, and re-enabling hardware acceleration
-Installing grayface's patch (*yes, even this didn't fix the problem as so many people on online forums says it would*)

What else do I need to try to get this game running?

Small updates: tried the Merge patch, was able to get through the character select screen, but Dagger Wound wouldn't load whatsoever. I'd just hear choppy audio as the window/screen froze on the loading screen. Trying out didn't options in the .ini didn't work either, neither did downloading the offline installer and reinstalling through that. I'm honestly at a loss here and I'm not sure what I did wrong or haven't thought to check. I'll try dgvoodoo tomorrow yet every forum post says it's obsolete now with the GrayFace patch, so really I'm not sure if it would do any good where GrayFace couldn't.

Maybe try going to your install folder and run the exe file "MM8-Rel.exe" instead of the exe file "MM8.exe"? I'm not sure if that will work or not.
