A suggestion one sometimes sees in walkthroughs is, to get the arena challenges out of the way when you're very low level, so that you also face low level opposition. You can always go back later if you want better cash.

Well, the travel time is an annoyance...it's 4 days out, 4 days back. You can Town Portal back, of course, but to do that, you had to get Water Master, and that means Nighon. That isn't low level. And, ti's still 4 days burned.

Well, I just happened to be trawling for interesting assistants in Harmondale..lo and behold, got an explorer. Reduce travel time by a day (min 1 day). And dirt cheap. HMMM. Well now. He works on the leg *to* the Arena; the trip back has always been buggy. (You get no credit for resting.) Still...3 days there, 4 days back. 7 days. Leave Sunday, return Sunday.

BOOM. 5 wins.

Hey, thanks! I thought those "reduce travel times" NPCs are next to useless, but this is a genuinly good use for them.

I'll need to keep this in mind the next time I do a light path play through. I've played this game a lot over the years, and it's always great to learn new things.

well, really the 5 knight challenges difficulty isn't just traveling back and forth, that's easy you can just rest at the inn, etc takes like 30 seconds to skip to next sunday. Its the actual fights. If you are worried about the actual travel time, there must be much more important things to worry about than taking 30 seconds to wait/rest until the next time the arena is open.

Topic Creator's method allows to save 5 days of in-game time if you do some other quests in-between. This method also saves 5 weeks of in-game time if you decide to focus solely on Arena quest. Those additional days (and weeks) quickly add up when you play long enough.

And it's not about score, it's just easier.

Another option: forget the name, but one minion cuts down coach travel time by 2 days. This reduces the round trip to 6. OK, spend a day killing goblins, or clearing the caves...or train *1* level per character if you have the XP. That's 8 days and you're at the next Sunday.

It's not even about score, or like it's hard (or expensive) to sit in the tavern. I just dislike 'wasting' time. (You can imagine that the wait between completing the war quests and the trumpet quest triggering, is MOST annoying for me. :) )

Ditto. And it's like that for me for all RPGs.

I know often it's just clicking "rest" a few times and it can be done without any real "penalties". But I really feel uncomfortable doing it just to let time pass.

I've played this game a lot. And I've only gotten the Trumpet quest twice. I always end up going from the war quest to being told that Judge Grey up and died. Some timing issue, I guess. Last time I played, I did everything I could to complete short quests so has to not take up too much time. I wanted that quest because I read that if you give the Trumpet to the Judge, Harmondale can become an independent kingdom. I got the Trumpet quest for the second time. But no joy. Giving the Trumpet to the Judge didn't not lead to an independent Harmondale. Must be another condition for it to happen.

No, it's giving the trumpet to Judge Grey that makes Harmondale free. I've done it several times. You should get some text from him about using it to help resolve things. Doesn't matter whether war or peace breaks out, either. I don't think it even matters how you do the quests for the monarchs, though I've always turned in the requested macguffins.

Who took control of Harmondale, and was it war or peace? Do you remember?

I remembering giving him the Trumpet and the Judge saying he would use it as a way to help the weaker side. That's all I remember. And , unfortunately, I deleted all the games in preparation for the W10 upgrade. I'll try it again when I get the chance. Thanks.

I have discovered, however, that if you turn in the fake one, and you tell them about the fake, they have you executed. That was fun.
