Installed MM7 on my desktop rig, as well as on my notebook for playing abroad. Both devices use Win7x64 Home Premium. However, while the music works on the desktop, I can't get it to play to play on my notebook, even all mp3 files are there.

Ingame sound works, music slider at option screen is set to maximum (I even get an acoustik confirmation by moving it), switched in the mm7setup.exe between Direct Sound 3D and Miles Fast 2D, made sure that this device can play mp3 under windows and of course dxdiag doesn't report any sound problems.

Any suggestions?
Installed Grayface's patch and got a mm7.ini where mp3 was set to 0 by default. Changed the value to 1 and it works now.

Should make that patch sticky here for people who face similar problems.

Doesnt work for me, Might be a Vista 64 bit problem.

Edit: Seems to work just fine without Grayface's excellent patch, go figure. I guess they somehow incorporated Mokks patch or found some other way to get it to work properly.

for what it's worth, i use Vista 64 Ultimate and don't have any music issues with mp3 is set to 1
I've got the reverse. MM& from GOG on Windows 10. Can't turn the music off! Set as low as possible in Controls, but not effect. Any ideas, please?
