OK unlike previous question I did spend a bit of time in-game and in-manual, but stumped on this one - can you tell what HP an enemy has remaining? I'm unsure when to run vs when to keep duking it out...

Yep, right clicking shows you an hp bar, among other information (dependent on the active character's skill in Identify Monster). The spirit magic spell Detect Life will display their current hp in the right click status window while the spell is active.
