Hello!

I have played MM6 quite a few times, and have heard good things about mm7, so I decided to check it out.
However coming from mm6, it feels like someone has rubbed my screen in vaseline!
Everything in the world itself is incredibly blurry, as if they used only half the textures sizes on the assets in comparison to MM6, if even that. I find myself constantly squinting and getting a headache as a result.

I've tried looking at screenshots of the game, and it's a bit difficult to tell, but it does look like things are lot less "foggy" and "smudged".

It is not a forced antialiasing setting issue, as the interface is quite crisp and I have made sure to turn such things off.

Is this just the art direction of this game or is there anything I can do?

Can you provide some screenshots?

If I remember correctly (and it's been awhile since I've looked into this) the textures that are used are different depending if you're using the software renderer or the hardware renderer. I don't remember which one gave the more blurry textures.

If you haven't already, I would recommend downloading and running Grayface's patch (I believe the GOG version here has an outdated community patch). It'll give you the better textures, some bug fixes, and a few other things like a mouse look mode. Hope this helps!

Probably has to do with the hardware acceleration.

FANTASTIC! Thanks for bringing up Hardware Acceleration. I've also been trying to fix mm7's graphics for ages - the trees were just blobs on my screen compared to MM 6. I've now found the MM7SETUP.EXE, and running it, it lets you turn off hardware acceleration for graphics, and select software mode. Now all the 3D textures in the game, not just the trees, look way better and the game is much more playable now.
